What is home staging?

Home staging is the act of preparing a home for the real estate market.  The scope of staging ranges from minor updates to more comprehensive changes.  Staging can also include adding furniture and decorative items to vacant and occupied homes to improve their appearance both in listing photos and as prospective buyers tour your home.  A home staging consultation will enable you to determine the needs for your home as recommended by a staging professional.

Should I consider home staging?

All home sellers, regardless of the price of their home, should consider meeting with a home Stager.  The intent of the staging process is to ensure that the seller is putting their best foot forward.  Regardless of the price of the home and the budget available for staging, a consultation provides the opportunity for an unbiased third party to  view your home and identify critical changes that will make the most impact.  If your home is vacant, it is always a good idea to explore vacant staging with items rented from a Home Stager.  Vacant homes are often more challenging to sell in a competitive real estate market.

How far in advance should I meet with a stager if I want to sell my house?

We consult with home sellers as early as several months in advance and we have also met with home sellers months after their home is listed and not selling.  It is best to be proactive and schedule your initial consultation before your home goes on the market.  More time enables you to be thorough and to create a plan that will ensure you are putting your best foot forward.

My home is vacant. What should I do?

According to a national study comparing a large population of staged to non-staged homes, the average return on investment in this study is a 6% higher sale price on staged homes versus their non-staged counterparts.  Days on the market is also reduced by an average of 50% according to that study.
